Selection Of The Hawaii Referees For The Far West Region IV Tournament
Las Vegas, Nevada
- June 18-24, 2007

ELIGIBILITY. To be eligible for selection as a referee at the 2007 Far West Region VI Tournament, an individual must meet the following requirements:

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age. Please note, however, that an age waiver may be granted on a case-by-case basis (must have exceptional referee skills, maturity and accomplishments as determined by the HYSA Board of Directors).
  2. Must be currently registered as a Grade 8 or higher USSF referee in the State of Hawaii.
  3. Must reside in the State of Hawaii.
  4. Must have officiated at least 10 youth soccer games in Hawaii for HYSA or a HYSA sanctioned league in the same year as the Far West Region IV Tournament.
  5. Must have successfully completed a USSF Grade 7 Fitness Test in the same year as the Far West Region IV Tournament.

APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCEDURES.

  1. The attached Referee Application and Information Sheet must be received by the SYRA by April 1, 2007.
  2. The HYSA Board of Directors will determine the number of referees to represent Hawaii at the Far West Region IV Tournament, based on the allotment (6 referees) determined by the Regional Referee Administrator.
  3. The HYSA Board of Directors will select the referees to represent Hawaii at the Far West Region IV Tournament on or before April 25, 2007.

NOTIFICATION AND TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS.

  1. The SYRA will notify all applicants of the selection results.
  2. Airfare, hotel accommodation and ground transportation will be paid for by HYSA.
  3. Itinerary (reservations made by SYRA):

June 16 – Leave Honolulu
June 17 – Pre-Tournament Clinic
June 18-24 – Regional Tournament
June 25 – Leave Las Vegas

  1. Hotel accommodations at the Suncoast Hotel & Casino (reserved).
  2. Ground transportation: Seven (7) passenger van (reserved).

2007 Young Referee of the Year Nomination

PURPOSE. Selection of the 2007 Hawaii State Female and Male Young Referee of the Year from among the area district finalists chosen by the respective leagues (Big Island, Kauai, Maui and Oahu).

ELIGIBILITY. To be eligible for nomination and selection as the 2007 Hawaii State Female and Male Young Referee of the Year, the individual must meet the following requirements:

  1. Must be no older than 19 years of age on August 1, 2007.
  2. Must be currently registered as a USSF referee in the State of Hawaii
  3. Must reside in the State of Hawaii.
  4. Must possess personal qualities reflecting accomplishments as a referee, a student, high character and a member of good standings in the community.

NOMINATION PROCEDURES. Anyone may nominate an individual to be the 2007 Hawaii State Female and Male Young Referee of the Year.

  1. The Nomination Form, together with a photo of the nominee, must be received by the State Youth Referee Administrator (SYRA) no later than March 15, 2007.
  2. Each Nomination Form should have sufficient enclosures, documentation, solicitations and letter of reference/endorsement attesting to the accomplishments of the individual being nominated as a referee, student, and contributing member of the community. These materials should be as specific as possible in citing accomplishments and personal attributes.
  3. Nomination Forms received after March 20, 2007 will not be considered.

SELECTION PROCEDURES.

  1. The SYRA will inform the area district referee administrators of the nominations received for their respective leagues.
  2. Each area district will select a Female and Male finalist for the 2007 Hawaii State Young Referee of the Year and notify the SYRA no later than March 26, 2007.
  3. The HYSA Board of Directors will select the winners of the 2007 Hawaii State Female and Male Young Referee of the Year by March 31, 2007.

NOTIFICATION AND AWARDS. The SYRA will notify the individuals selected as the finalists and winners of the 2007 Hawaii State Female and Male Young Referee of the Year.

  1. The SYRA or the area district referee administrators will contact all nominees not selected and those making the nominations and inform them of the results.
  2. HYSA will present awards to the winners and finalists of the 2007 Hawaii State Female and Male Young Referee of the Year.
  3. The names of the 2007 Hawaii State Female and Male Young Referee of the Year will be submitted to the Regional Director by April 1, 2007 for consideration as the Region IV Female and Male Young Referee of the Year.

There is a $25 course fee for all candidates due on the 1st night. At the conclusion of the course, and upon passing the final exam, there is a $25 USSF Registration Fee for 2007. HOWEVER, if you are registered player with HYSA, we will cover the Registration for you for the first year. In addition, HYSA offers a referee uniform credit of $40 at Rogue soccer to help new youth referees get "suited up" for doing games.
