Yamanouchi & Brasher Named 2013 Young Referee of the Year - 4/25/2013
On behalf of the Hawaii State Referee Committee, I am proud to announce the Young Female Referee of the Year and the Young Male Referee of the Year for extraordinary accomplishments as a young soccer referee.
This year, we had outstanding and deserving nominations, but two individuals stood out among their youth peers.

- Tiffany Yamanouchi and Zachary Brashers
Both Tiff and Zach will represent Hawaii as nominees for Region IV and will be recognized at Far West Regionals 2013.

STATE CUP REFEREE MESSAGE FROM SYRA - 3/27/2013
Aloha HI Referees,
THANK YOU for signing up to referee the HI State Cup, and thank you for those of you who attended the Friday 22 March meeting.
This State Cup tournament is not only important, but it is going to be very competitive, intense, tactical, and emotional; after all it is THE REGIONAL QUALIFIERS. The State Cup is the tournament that most (U12 to U18) Girls and Boys work very hard every year just to try to qualify.
The State Cup will be run just like the Far West Regionals. When we step onto the field in April 5-7 and 25-27, we must come prepared, and during this training session we will cover much of what is required of us referees, and all the little things WE MUST DO AS A REFEREE TEAM, in order for the State Cup to be a successful tournament.
I am asking those who did not attend the 22 March meeting to please try to attend the next meeting scheduled for Tuesday 2 Apr, 7-8:30PM, at either Leeward Community College or Aiea United Methodist Church. I am waiting for confirmation of location, but wanted to get the word out. As soon as I confirm location, I will remind all of you.
My apologies on the short notice, and yes, we all have day/night jobs and other commitments, but it would be WONDERFUL if you can find the time in your busy schedule to attend this very important training.

This tournament is not only very important, but it is going to be very competitive, intense, tactical, and emotional; after all it is THE REGIONAL QUALIFIERS. This State Cup is the tournament that most (U12 to U18) Girls and Boys work very hard every year just to try to qualify.
When we step onto the field in April, we must come prepared and trained so not to disappoint the players, coaches, parents, fans, and fellow referees. We must receive this very important referee training, as this State Cup will be ran just like the Far West Regionals.
Some people don't like the word mandatory, however, I am here to tell you that "YOU MUST ATTEND" this very important referee training, as we will cover all the required things WE MUST DO AS A REFEREE TEAM, in order for the State Cup to be a successful tournament.
My apologies on the short notice, but you must find the time in your busy schedule to attend this training. There may be another meeting prior to the State Cup, but I don't have a location or date at this time.

2013 Young Referee of the Year
Requirements to apply:
An individual may be nominated and selected as the Young Female Referee of the Year or the Young Male Referee of the Year for extraordinary accomplishments as a young soccer referee if the individual—
(1) was certified as a Federation referee during the seasonal year immediately prior to the seasonal year for which the individual is being nominated;
(2) is certified or being certified as a Federation referee during the seasonal year for which the individual is being nominated;
(3) during those two seasonal years, refereed games primarily for US Youth Soccer, a region, a State Association, or a member or team of any of those organizations; and
(4) did not reach 19 years of age prior to that August 1 immediately before the beginning of the seasonal year for which the individual is being nominated.
