Hawaii at Far West Regionals - 2012

PHOENIX, ARIZONA

6/18/2012 - Day 1 of Far West Regionals is in the books and overall, it was a good day for Hawaii teams in HOT Phoenix. 112 degrees was the high temp yesterday. Today it will "only" be 108 =). 19 Hawaii Teams - 12 wins, 6 losses and 1 tie.

6/19/2012 - Day 2 of Far West Regionals was not as kind to Hawaii teams as we went a collective 5-11-3. Highlights were Leahi 95 Premier (GU17) claiming their second victory with a win over Oregon. On Monday, they beat National League Champion from Cal South- Legends. Leahi 95 Premier has clinched 1st in the pool despite one game to play in group B. Aces Arsenal (Girls U12 Wildcard) is the only other Hawaii team with 2 wins under their belt. Many Hawaii teams still with the opportunity to advance out of pool with a positive result on Day 3. Good Luck to all Hawaii teams. 

6/20/2012 - Day 3 of Far West Regionals was a little more "balanced" in terms of results, with Hawaii teams posting a record of 6-8-5. Aces Arsenal (GU12) got their third win of the tournament and have yet to allow a goal. They will play Washington's Northwest Nationals in the Quarterfinals on Friday. Leahi 95 Premier (GU17) also registered their third win with a 3-1 victory over Pride Predators of Colorado. Leahi 95 Premier will face the Cal South State Champion Legends Breakaway in the Quarterfinals. In all, 9 of Hawaii's 19 teams have advanced out of pool to the Quarterfinal round. Hawaii Rush will advance 4 teams to the Quarterfinals while Leahi SC will send 2 teams into the Quarters. HSC Bulls, Blitz and the Aces will each send one team into Quarterfinal action. Good Luck to ALL Hawaii teams!

6/22/2012 - 3 Hawaii teams advance to the Semi Finals at Far West Regionals!
HSC Bulls U18 Boys beat Cal-South 2-1 and advance to play WSM Premier of Oregon. Leahi 97 Premier rallied in OT to tie up the score with Washington and would go on to beat them in a Penalty Kick Shoot Out. They will play MVLA from Cal North in tomorrow's semifinal. Hawaii Rush 99B Nike beat the Cal North Champion 5-4 with all goals coming in OT! They will go on to face Banat 99 Gold of Arizona in tomorrow's semifinals.

6/23/2012 Hawaii's hopes for Far West Regional titles will have to wait until next year, at home in Hawaii. All 3 Hawaii teams playing in semifinals lost today. Hawaii Rush 99B lost 4-0 to Banat of Arizona in the BU13 semifinal. The other two matches were full of drama. In the GU15 semifinal, Leahi 97 Premier, a finalist in 2011, would lose 1-0 in the second OT to MVLA of Cal North. In the BU18 final, HSC Bulls 94B lost in the 90th minute on a penalty kick. All 3 teams represented Hawaii well and we are proud of them. 
We will look forward to Far West Regionals 2013 in HONOLULU, HAWAII!
