Thank You all for your patience as we have worked to re-structure the Hawaii Olympic Development Program (ODP) to fit with the changes that have occurred at the Regional and National Levels.
We are in the process of confirming some of the upcoming deadlines as well as fees for participation.
US Youth Soccer Region IV Camp
Region IV Camp will be very different moving forward. The new camp will be marketed in two new divisions to meet the need of the elite player and to aid in their development. The first division will be structured as a college based camp. The camp will be designed to offer top level training from high level college/university coaches. The players will have the opportunity to be trained and seen by many top level college coaches of all divisions (NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior College, etc.). The second division of the Region IV Camp will be designed for the younger player. The content and focus will be to offer high level training by the Region IV Head and Asst. Age Group Coaches. Other staff will include National team players, past and present, US Soccer Scouts as well as some college coaches. Players will be recommended by their respective states and must be in good standing and currently participating in their state’s ODP program and approved by the State’s Director of Coaching or Technical Director. The Region IV Camp will now be optional. Players may be selected from the summer camp to the Region IV Player Pool or to attend the Pool Camp.
Region IV ODP Championships
The Region IV ODP Championships will serve as the primary identification venue for selecting players to attend the Region IV Pool Camp (formerly “holdover camp”). It will be run as any high level tournament and a champion will be determined, but there will be much emphasis placed on the scouting of players. ODP Championships will be held January 11-13, 2013 (Friday-Sunday) at the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Region IV Sub-Regional Events
Under the new structure of ODP, Region IV will offer Sub-Regional Events that are hosted by State Associations. Regional Head Coaches as well as Age Group Coaches would attend approved Sub-Regional Events for the purpose of identifying players to attend the Region IV Pool Camp. We are pleased to announce that Hawaii’s ODP State Selection Camp has been approved as a Sub-Regional event. This means that Hawaii players participating in our State Selection Camp held in March, are eligible for selection to the Region IV Pool Camp and the Region IV Player Pool. Attendance at the traditional Region IV Camp is no longer mandatory for selection to the player pool. This is a tremendous development for players from Hawaii as it should save our players quite a bit of money since they can be invited from March Camp directly into the Region IV Player Pool.
